Hyaluronic - C Perfecting Facial Cream: Let's Go Back to Basics
Over the past few weeks here on the Green Keratin blog, we have been talking about loads of different exciting products. From facial oils to clay masks, it’s been a whirlwind of innovative skincare solutions. But this week, we are going back to the basics—we are going to be talking about our Hyaluronic - C Perfecting Facial Cream. This moisturiser holds a very special place in all of our hearts because this is actually the product that founded Green Keratin. Not only was this one of our first products, but it is also our No.1 bestseller!
A great skincare routine is built up from a great collection of staple products, and moisturiser is one of those. Get the right moisturiser and your life will change. You can have all the face masks and oils in the world, but none of that matters without a good moisturiser.
It’s been a while since we talked about the organic side of things. But now we are bringing everything back to basics, I think it’s important. At this point, you may still be skeptical about how much organic products can actually benefit your skin. Let’s put it this way: you wouldn’t want to put loads of nasty chemicals in your mouth, so why put them on your skin? In order for your skin to look and feel its best, you need to provide it with the right nutrients. Which is exactly why it is so important to use natural/organic products.
Moisturiser is a key component of both your morning and evening routine, so it’s important to pick the right one.
Hyaluronic Acid: Giving You a Boost of Hydration
The formula of this face cream includes pure Hyaluronic Acid, which is fully vegan and can bind up to 1000 times its own volume in water. With the weather moving towards the colder end of the spectrum, your skin can really start to feel the effects and lose a lot of essential moisture. So, you need to make sure you and your skin stay hydrated! If you suffer from dry skin, then this face cream will be absolutely perfect for you.
Hyaluronic Acid plays a critical role in maintaining the skin’s elasticity by ensuring that it is moisturised. Dry skin can make the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles more severe. So, by giving your skin an extra boost of hydration, you can actually reduce their appearance. This is because Hyaluronic Acid is able to penetrate the upper layers of the skin and form an air-permeable layer, thus boosting elasticity and hydration.
Vitamin C: Fighting Against Signs of Ageing
Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate is a stabilised form of Vitamin C that is included in this formula. It’s really important that we provide our skin with Vitamin C through our skincare routine, because it’s not something our body produces naturally.
Vitamin C is crucial for collagen production and maintenance of the skin and it is also a very potent antioxidant. It is fantastic for protecting the skin against signs of ageing, as it can limit the oxidative stress in the body by reducing the amount of damage that free radicals can do to the skin cells. This means that it actually has the ability to lessen the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles!
Another great benefit of Vitamin C is that it helps to protect the skin against ultraviolet radiation and environmental pollution that can accelerate signs of ageing.
Natural Oils: Locking in Moisture
Natural Oils: Locking in Moisture
Nothing screams “locking in moisture” like an oil. And, in this formula, there are actually 5 different kinds of oils. If you have been reading this blog, then you will know that here at Green Keratin, we love a good oil. Of all the oils in this formula though, there are definitely a few star players: the Apricot, Macadamia and Frankincense oils.
These oils all work together to give you beautifully moisturised and smooth skin. But they also carry their own individual benefits. Frankincense oil helps to tone the skin, keeping it looking clear and even, while improving the overall quality of the skin. Macadamia Oil is incredibly lightweight and contains a lot of fatty acids, which really help to moisturise and replenish the skin. The fatty acids also have anti-inflammatory properties, which is great if you have problems with over-pigmentation. And finally, Apricot Oil is fabulous for smoothing out the skin and improving the overall texture.
Although this face cream contains a lot of different oils, it is still incredibly lightweight. In fact, if you didn’t look at the ingredients list, you wouldn’t even realise that this product contained any oils at all. This is because it sinks into the skin so beautifully and doesn’t leave behind any kind of residue on the skin, making it perfect for using under makeup.
Tips for Application
Always remember to begin with a clean slate by removing any makeup and cleansing the skin. If you are using a toner and a serum, then it is best to apply those before this face cream. If you struggle with understanding the correct order in which to apply your skincare products, then the rule I live by is to start with the most watery product and then work your way up to the thicker creams.
Dab the cream in little dots all over your face, focusing on trouble areas. But remember, a little goes a long way, so just use enough to cover the skin without clogging the pores.
